Frequentador assíduo desde muito novo de clubes e pistas do Rio, o DJ Gustavo MM cresceu ouvindo de funk-disco a rock e new wave. A partir de 1998, quando se tornou DJ, passou a figurar ativamente na cena eletrônica carioca, onde tem sua parcela de responsabilidade nas mais importantes festas das cidade.
Na entrevista abaixo, Gustavo MM conta sobre seu repertório e seus projetos, e ainda sugere momentos legais para curtir o seu set, gravado especialmente para o deepbeep.

O que inspirou este set?
Eu ter reatado minha relação com música de “clube”, já que andei um tempo sem vibrar pelos lançamentos. Agora, além de lançamentos alucinantes, tem esses 10 milhões de blogs e lojas, além da própria coleção para fuçar… Haja tempo e ouvido…
Se pudesse descrever o momento perfeito para ouvi-lo, como seria?
Acho que dá para começar como música para escutar, mas daquele tipo que já vai dando uma mexida no corpo. Aos poucos ele vai ficando mais animado, então serve para uma festinha em casa, para andar de bicicleta, para ouvir na praia da Urca!
Você lembra do primeiro LP que comprou? Conta um pouco para a gente da sua história com vinis.
Meu primeiro vinil deve ter sido o do AC/DC! Minha história com vinis era a seguinte: esperar minha mãe sair de casa para ouvir os dela, ou ouvir junto com ela. Tinha basicamente música brasileira, tango e música francesa que ela adorava. Depois fui morar com o meu pai e lembro dele me apresentando Talking Heads, olha que luxo! E a minha irmã tinha uma pilha de new wave…
Você sempre teve um envolvimento muito forte com a cena noturna carioca. Esteve na produção e nas cabines das principais festas da cidade. Como você vê a cena noturna carioca hoje? O que tem chamado sua atenção?
Ao mesmo tempo que não surgiu nenhum clube novo capaz de centralizar as iniciativas, os espaços existentes tem sido bem aproveitados. E tem rolado muitos shows bons.

Para fechar, qual é a sua música preferida de todos os tempos?
Não tenho “a preferida”, até porque gosto de tipos de música diferentes para momentos diferentes.
